question

Okay librarians, question: would a panel discussion on tips and strategies for social networking be useful? Or is this topic over-done? I would like to focus on successful and non-successful examples of accounts, tips for both personal and library accounts, and the importance of personality online. I’m also thinking bring someone in from outside the library world might be interesting. Any thoughts on this?

edit: Yep, I’m thinking for a library conference.

  8. librarianpirate answered: YES! Also teaching people how to respond to criticisms on their facebook page and how to promote but not over promote.

  10. librariesandlemonade answered: if you talk about more than privacy settings, you’ll be fine. The privacy conversation is overdone on pros.
  11. sarahbethlibrarian said: yes!! but I think problem w these classes is often too much set up for people experienced w social media, or reverse. Maybe indicate social media experience level? I’ve often been frustrated by classes that are great for newbies but irrelevant to me.
  12. thelifeguardlibrarian answered: Is this for a conference presentation? I think it’s a great idea—online personality and etiquette are interesting areas to focus on, I think
